The video is titled 'Hey lady, thank a White Person,' it had 92,385 views by evening, and its central assertion is presented as arithmetic: 'white people or European people can account for 95% of all of the modern-day high-impact inventions or patents in the world... you know, the other share percentage was Asian people' [1].

Its World Intellectual Property Indicators 2024 reports that in 2023 innovators worldwide filed 3.55 million patent applications. China accounted for about 1.64 million of them - roughly 46 percent of the world total from one country. The United States filed 518,364, Japan 414,413, the Republic of Korea 287,954, Germany 133,053 [2].
Broken out by the region of the office receiving them, in WIPO's own words: 'Offices located in Asia received approximately 2.44 million applications in 2023, constituting 68.7% of the world total,' while 'Northern America's share has decreased... to 17.8% in 2023, while Europe's has fallen... down to 10.3%' [2].
Europe and Northern America together come to 28.1 percent. The claim was 95.
It is not a rounding dispute or a definitional quibble about what counts as high-impact. The category the speaker assigned five percent to files more than twice as many patents as the category he assigned ninety-five.
